What this site is for

It exists to help someone decide about an operation on the lower lid. The anatomy, the ageing process and the operations themselves are already documented in the hospital's eyelid material and in Dr. Mao's professional writing. Repeating that would add nothing. What is often missing is the patient's side: which of the four operations is actually being offered, whether it matches what is under your eye, what the recovery takes out of your year, and when the honest answer is not an operation.

How it is written

Every guide follows one decision from beginning to end and states its limits as plainly as its benefits. Where an operation is the wrong match for a finding, the text says so. Where an expectation cannot be met, the text says that too. Nothing here is written to make an operation sound easier than it is, and no result is promised.

What it will not do

It will not name brands of products or devices: they are described by class only. It will not quote prices, because the cost of a plan depends on the plan, and the plan depends on an examination. It will not publish dosages, and it will not invent credentials, awards or case volumes for any clinician.

Medical review

The content is reviewed by Tongchun Mao, MD, Deputy Director and Head of Aesthetic Surgery at Chongqing West District Hospital, and is dated on every page. It is patient education, not medical advice: it does not describe your case, and it does not replace an assessment by a qualified clinician who has examined you.
