What the assessment covers

Lid tone and position; the tear film and any history of dryness, watering or a changed blink; what the fullness actually is, and whether it changes through the day; thyroid history, fluid retention, allergy and sleep; medication that affects clotting; any previous eyelid operation, filler or laser treatment in the area; and what you want to look like afterwards, described without reference to someone else's photograph.

What to bring

A list of your current medications, including anything that affects clotting; photographs of yourself at different ages if the change has been recent and one-sided; any previous operative notes if you have had eyelid surgery before; and the name of any product that has been injected under your eyes, if you know it. If you have been given a plan elsewhere, bring it — reviewing a plan you already have is a legitimate reason to book.

What happens if an operation is not for you

You will be told. Some assessments end with treatment for a dry eye, a referral for a thyroid or kidney question, a recommendation to wait, or the observation that the tired look comes from the brow rather than the lid. That is a result, not a rejection: the purpose of the appointment is to match an operation to a finding, and sometimes the match does not exist.

How to arrange it

Contact the outpatient line, or write through the address on the contact page, and say that you are asking about the lower eyelids. If you are travelling from outside Chongqing, say so when you book: the team can tell you what can be done by remote consultation and what needs an in-person examination.
